Frequently asked questions about our rooms, restaurant and your stay

How much do the rooms cost?

Rooms start from €65 for a double room for single use, €75 for a double room and €95 for a triple room. Air conditioning is included in the price — no extra charge for climate control. If you're considering more than one night, check our rooms page for dedicated promotions: booking directly with us is always the best deal.

Is breakfast included?

No, breakfast is not included. We're an agriturismo with a restaurant — our strength is lunch and dinner cooking, not the morning buffet. For breakfast we recommend the cafés just outside the historic centre, a few minutes' walk away.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, check-out by 11:00 AM. Times are fixed — we ask you to respect them so we can properly prepare the rooms for each guest. For different arrival times, please call us in advance.

Can I bring pets to my room?

No, pets are not allowed in the rooms. If you're travelling with a pet and need overnight accommodation, we recommend looking for pet-friendly accommodations in the area before booking. However, pets are welcome in our restaurant by reservation only — see Q05 below.

Can I bring my dog to the restaurant?

Yes — pets are welcome in our dining room by reservation only. Please mention your pet when booking your table so we can prepare the right spot for you. We love four-legged guests, but we like to plan ahead. Note: pets are NOT allowed in the rooms.

Is there a lift / elevator?

No. All rooms are located on the first floor and accessible only by stairs. If you have mobility difficulties or heavy luggage, please keep this in mind — feel free to call us and we'll find the best solution together.

How far is the Locanda from Orvieto historic centre?

About 5 minutes by car (2 km) from the Cathedral and St. Patrick's Well. We're located at Strada della Stazione 23 — conveniently close to both the A1 motorway exit (3 km) and the Orvieto railway station. We're not in the historic centre, and that's no drawback: you have the Umbrian countryside outside your window and the centre within easy reach.

Is there parking?

Yes, free private parking right on site. No restricted traffic zone (ZTL), no parking meters, no hunt for a space — one of the real advantages over staying in the historic centre. Easy access for cars, motorbikes and minivans.

Can I have dinner at the Locanda restaurant if I'm a room guest?

Of course — and it's one of the reasons many people choose to stay here. The restaurant is open to room guests exactly as it is to everyone else. Piccione all'Orvietana, grilled lamb, homemade pasta. We recommend booking your table at the same time as your room: seats are limited (only 50 covers).

What types of rooms are available?

Four rooms, each dedicated to a landmark of Orvieto: Pozzo di San Patrizio, Torre del Moro, Duomo di Orvieto and Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo. Double rooms and one triple room. All on the first floor, with private bathroom, flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning included in the price.

What are the restaurant opening hours?

Open Tuesday to Friday for lunch (12:15 – 14:30) and dinner (19:00 – 21:15). Saturday: 12:00 – 14:30 and 19:00 – 21:30. Sunday: lunch only (12:00 – 14:30). Closed on Monday. Full details on the opening hours page.

Do you speak English?

Yes — our staff is fluent in English. Feel free to write to us, call us or visit us: we'll be happy to help you in English with any question about the restaurant, rooms or your stay. You can also reach us via WhatsApp or email at info@locandaorvieto.it.

What typical dishes can I try at the Locanda?

Authentic Umbrian cuisine with our five signature dishes: Piccione all'Orvietana (slow-cooked pigeon, family recipe), Baffo all'Orvietana (pork cheek with sage and tomato), grilled Agnello a Scottadito (lamb), homemade Umbrichelli al Cinghiale (pasta with wild boar) and Tagliatelle al Tartufo Nero (with Umbrian black truffle). The menu follows the seasons — you'll never find an out-of-season dish, and that's by design. View the full menu in English.

How much does dinner cost on average?

Average cost is from €30 per person, depending on what you order including appetizer, first course, main course, side dish and dessert. Wine is extra: our cellar has over 250 labels, mostly from Umbria. The "Coperto" (Italian table cover, includes bread) is €2.50 per person. We're a casual family restaurant, not a fine-dining venue — fair prices for honest Umbrian cooking.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept credit cards, debit cards and contactless payments (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express). Cash is also welcome. For room bookings, payment is made directly at the Locanda upon arrival or check-out. No prepayment required for direct bookings.

Is the restaurant kid-friendly?

Yes, families with children are warmly welcome. We can prepare simpler portions on request — homemade pasta with tomato sauce or plain grilled meat. High chairs available. Just let us know when booking and we'll take care of it. We're a family-run place ourselves, so we get it.

Are there vegetarian or vegan options?

Yes. The menu always includes vegetarian options — homemade pasta with seasonal vegetables, grilled veggies, legume-based starters, our 10,000 sqm organic garden supplies most ingredients. For vegan dishes we recommend calling ahead: we'll prepare something authentically Umbrian for you, not a last-minute substitute. Written allergen information available on request.

Is there a dress code?

No formal dress code — we're a family restaurant, not a fine-dining venue. Come comfortable. That said, this isn't a beach bar either: smart-casual is always a good choice.

Do you offer truffle and seasonal specialties?

Yes. Umbrian black truffle is served when in season — we never use frozen or imported truffle. In autumn we add wild mushrooms, game and chestnuts; in spring, wild asparagus and fresh vegetables from our garden; in summer, our 500 olive trees produce the extra-virgin olive oil we serve at the table. Seasonality is a real principle here, not a marketing slogan.
